Cold Call Health Check Scam - Click Here For Details
Some of our customers have made us aware there has been a scam taking place over the past 6 months whereby someone will call claiming that they are from Microsoft, or your anti virus company and tell you your computer is infected.

They will often take you to your event viewer and show you your error logs which is usually enough to scare you into thinking there is something wrong, they will take control of your computer, take a few mintures looking round it and then say you need their software to fix the problems and try to charge you anything up to £150.

Firstly, Microsoft registration is anonoymous, there is absolutely no way Microsoft can get hold of your name, let alone your telephone number. Be sure this is a simple cold call with a cleverly written script.

Secondly, their “software” will usually consist of a program that is actually doing more harm than good and they will sometimes leave the remote access program they used to control your computer installed and live so they may have the potential to enter your system at will.

If you have been a victim of this scam and have actually let them control your machine you should immediately seek help to undo what they have done to re-secure your system. Chandler I.T Services would also advise you change your passwords and also cancel your card that you used to pay them with.

Some customers have actually had threats that they would inject a virus into their machine and render it useless, please be sure providing you did not give them remote access to your computer this is highly unlikely. If you have given them access, please disconnect the computer from the internet before using it again and give us a call.
